Ahead of their warm-up match in England, the Indian cricket team paid tribute to the victims of the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash. Players and support staff wore black armbands and observed a minute’s silence before the start of the intra-squad match between India and India A at Beckenham. The gesture was a solemn mark of respect for the 241 people who lost their lives in Thursday's Air India Dreamliner crash.
The BCCI shared images of the moment on social media, stating that the team stood in solidarity with the affected families. The flight had crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, with only one person surviving out of the 242 on board.
The warm-up match holds significance as Team India prepares for a five-Test series in England, starting June 20. With head coach Gautam Gambhir returning to India due to a family emergency, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate is overseeing the squad, along with Morne Morkel and Sitanshu Kotak.
